Roman Catholic Cardinal. Loro Piceno born Giuseppe Mori entered seminary in Fermo, before moving on to the Pontifical Roman Seminary in Rome in order to further his studies, where he was ordained priest on September 17, 1874, by Cardinal Filippo de Angelis. Remaining in the city, rendering pastoral ministry, in 1885 he was called to the Sacred Congregation of the Council as a staff member, ultimately becoming auditor in 1903. Named honorary chamberlain of His Holiness on October 4, 1880 and reappointed after the Pontiff's death on December 7, 1903, Pope Pius X named him undersecretary of the Sacred Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments on October 20, 1908, auditor of the Sacred Roman Rota on February 9 of the following year, and secretary of the named Sacred Congregation of the Council on December 8, 1916. His successor, Pope Pius XI, created him cardinal deacon in the consistory of December 11, 1922 with the deaconry of San Nicola in Carcere. Opting for the order of cardinal priests, his deaconry was elevated pro illa vice to title on March 13, 1933. Returning to his native Loro Piceno due to health reasons, he succumbed there to heart disease at the age of 84. After a funeral held at the church of San Francesco of Loro Piceno the day after his death, officiated by Msgr. Luigi Ferretti, bishop of Macerata and Tolentino, the Cardinal was laid to rest temporarily in the chapel of the local cemetery, before being transferred to the family chapel upon its completion inside the same cemetery.
