Julia "Nana" Serrett, 86, of Mount Sidney passed away Wednesday morning, May 14, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. She was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Greenville, the daughter of the late Ollie Sylvester Lotts and Annie Dale Wiseman Lotts.


"Nana" devoted her life to her husband, her disabled son and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Andrew "Jack" Serrett Jr.; her three sons, Jerry "Chubby" Serrett of Mount Sidney, Gene Serrett and his wife, Donna, of Verona and Douglas Serrett and his wife, Cheryl, of Staunton; her two daughters, Betty Fitzgerald of Verona and Judy Moomau of Stuarts Draft; her grandchildren, Dwayne, Susan, Tim, Fonda, Gail, Nedra, Cindy, Andy, Kevin, Chad, Dee and Mark; her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jim and Lou Brooke, Wilma Shuey, Bertha Turner and Gregory Miller.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Helen M. Zottoli.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home at 961 Goose Creek Road in Fishersville.
