STAUNTON-Mrs. Frances Ellen Lotts Brooks, 85, formerly of Spottswood, died Sunday (March 30, 1997) in the Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 8, 1912, in Augusta County, a daughter of Ollie S. and Ann Buchanan Lotts. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Old Providence ARP Church. Her husband, Charles Howard Brooks, preceded her in death on March 18, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Brooks of Spottswood and H. Kennan Brooks of Charlottesville; two sisters, Julia Serrett of Mount Sidney and Ruth Martin of Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Old Providence ARP Church by the Rev. H. Max Bolin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Gordon, Lyle Harlow, Mike Flint, Stuart Lotts, Dallas Hemp and Robert Earhart.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Henry Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Edwin. Memorial donations may be made to the Old Providence ARP Church, Memorial Fund, c/o Charlie Bradley, Route 1, Box 403, Spottswood, Va. 24475.
