Clara May Foss was the daughter of Charles H. Foss and his wife, Clara A. Bond Foss.
Clara May married Charles Robert Bower on June 12, 1895 in Methuen, MA. She was 22 years old; Charles was 23 years old and employed as a Section Hand. Rev. Nathan Bailey performed the ceremony. [Provided by Homeboss #48489796]

Evening Tribune November 20, 1952. Mrs. Clara M. (Foss) Bower, wife of Charles R. Bower, 12 Piedmont Street, Methuen, died at the Lawrence General Hospital Wednesday night following a short illness. She was born in Methuen December 18, 1872 and was a resident of that town all her life. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church for 63 years and was a member of the Women's Federation of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Bower celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in June. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Helen Adams, Mrs. Mildred Madden, Mrs. Josephine Weeks and Mrs. Ruth Charest, all of Methuen; a son, former school committeeman Herbert B. Bower; a brother, Gilbert Foss of Methuen; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Methuen, Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Raymond Carman, retired of Newton Center. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
