Josie was the daughter of James Daniel Hunt Price & Jane Elizabeth Higdon. She married Leonidas H Strait on 6 March 1878 in Green City, Sullivan County, Missouri & they had 10 children: infant son b 15 Jan 1879 and died 16 Jan 1879, Lora Nelson Strait, James DeWayne Strait, Seth Oziath Strait, Cordelia Estela Strait, Samuel David Strait, Mary J Minnie Strait, Dora Synthia Myrtle Strait, William Standley "Willie" Strait, and Joseph Leonidas Strait.

Josie married Lewis Walters on 23 October 1912.
