William Wesley Clark was born in Arkansas. His mothers name was Elizabeth.

William married first to a Sarah Ann Fitzgerald, daughter of Alex and Polly (Shadley) Fitzgerald, whom which he had one child. Their daughter Mary, was listed with her children on the Dawes Commission Rolls. Mary was listed as 1/16 Indian. William was listed as non-Indian, so the Indian lineage is through Sarah, who would have been 1/8 Indian.

William served in the Civil War for the Confederacy in the 1st Creek Regiment formed in what is now Eufala, Oklahoma on Aug 19, 1861. Col Daniel Newman McIntosh was the commanding officer.

It is unknown if Sarah died before his military service started, however, their daughter was raised from about 1860 on by Amanda and Owen Davis. It was said that Mary was very angry with her father for abandoning her.

William married Laura M Boss on May 3 1866 in Hopkins Co, Tx. They had 9 children.

William is buried next to a grandchild, an unnamed child of his daughter May Agatha and William Simpson Lilley.
