The 1940 census shows her two daughters (Mary Lee Clutter, age 12; and June Evelyn Clutter; age 10) residing with Hallie's mother, Laura Belle Cooper, and Hallie is not listed as being at the residence.
It is possible that Hallie died at some point after June's birth in 1929 but prior to the 1940 census. HOWEVER, her husband (Earvie Paul Clutter) indicated on the application for his 1945 marriage to Gladys Lorene Pettit that he was previously married and that he was divorced in 1944.
