His parents took their newborn son home, which was just a few miles away, to Muddy Creek, near Haines. Tommy grew up to live a good and honorable life. A Vietnam War Veteran, he proudly served our nation for 20 years in the United States Air Force. He retired as Captain Duncan.

Bertha is the daughter of Robert Thomas George, who is the brother of Sarah Elizabeth George Coles Richmond. These siblings, Robert and Sarah, are the daughter and son of Augustus George and Anne Eliza Griffey George. They are Captain Tommy L. Duncan and his memorial creator's Great-Great-Grandparents. We are 3rd cousins, his Great-Grandfather Robert Thomas George's sister, Sarah Elizabeth George Coles Richmond is my Great-Grandmother.
