Beatrice Alston, 80, of Neptune, died Thursday at Jersey Shore Center. She was a health care worker and was last employed by the New York Employees Retirement System 472967. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Asbury Park and a member of its Stewardess Board and Willing Workers Club. Born in Ocilla, Ga., she lived in New York before moving to the Shore area in 1981.


Her son, Bernard, died in 1983. Surviving are a brother, George Baker Sr. of Asbury; a nephew, Freddie Baker of Gairburn, Ga.; a great-grandniece, Clare April Baker of Asbury Park; a sister-in-law, Edith Baker; a niece, Virginia Baker, and a great-grandniece, Rene Washington.


Friends may call from 7pm Wednesday until service time at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1001 Cookman Ave., Asbury Park. Funeral services will be held 8pm Wednesday at the church, the Rev. John C. Justice officiating. Internment will be in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. The James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements.
