SS-Unterscharführer Horst Metzger (Sergeant) was a Panzer crewman in a PzKfw IV of the 6th Company, 2.SS Panzer Division "Das Reich", who was killed in action near Saint-Lô, when his tank received a direct hit, which penetrated the armor plate (due to its heavy caliber) and fatally wounded him, during the heavy fighting in the Normandy region, during World War II.
