John Seminoff, in his younger days during the late 1930's and early 1940s, worked on the docks and on board produce ships between San Francisco and Sacramento. He was a union carpenter for many years until he retired from the union. In 1960 he built his home 8650 Starr Road, Windsor, Sonoma Co, CA 95492. Phone interview with Bill Seminoff 5/28/2000 (son of Alex Seminoff) and Nancy Ann (Poppin) Posey

Bill told of a story about his brothers Nick and John, who were single at the time and his Uncle George Poppin. George would come up from the city and they'd go the Russian River and strut their stuff. They would come home and eat the Russian Borst and sleep in the haystacks in the barn. Then George would go home.

[Side note:] My mother, Dorothy Poppin, later said that my father (George Poppin) would talk about this often because he was very close with John and Nick Seminoff. They would go to Monte Rio at the Russian River.

John Alex Seminoff married Marjorie Holmes. He was also a Jehovah's Witness. Being a skilled carpenter, he could build a building from the bottom up. He also worked at Eichler Homes, Inc. He passed his talent on to his son, Nicholas David, who is in construction in Seattle.
