MOUNDVILLE Elder Glenn Payne, age 79, of Moundville, died May 14, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Englewood Baptist Church. Elder Charles Kitchen, Wayne Crocker, Tim McCool and Bro. Bill Richards will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens cemetery.
He was preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years,four sons, two sisters, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Glenn was born June 10, 1928, in Hale County. He graduated from Akron High School in 1945. He served in the US Army in Germany from January 22, 1946 and was honorably discharged November 8, 1948. He married Minnie Opal Ryan on October 22, 1949. He retired from Gulf States Paper in 1989. He served as a Primitive Baptist Minister for 35 years.
