A funeral service was held here last Saturday for Mrs. Joseph Lorenz Sr, 72, who died in an Omaha hospital on Wednesday. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Ekeler conducted a requiem mass at Sacred Heart church at 9:30 o'clock in the morning.

Mrs. Lorenz was a life-long resident of Saline County. She was born on March 18, 1881 near Wilber and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rezabek. She attended the Wilber schools.

On July 25, 1899 she was wed to Joseph Lorenz at the Catholic church in Wilber. They lived on their farm two and a half miles east of Tobias for 26 years and then moved to another farm two miles west of Crete where they resided until 1945 when they retired to Crete. Nine children were born to the union.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Lydia Baxa of Tobias, Mrs. Ema Novak of Western, Mrs. Agnes Valenta and Mrs. Helen Smejkal of Crete; four sons, Henry of Tobias, Joseph E. of Crete, Fred and Francis of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Borecky of Wilber and Mrs. Josephine Fisher of Englewood, Colorado; one brother, Albert Rezabek of Joplin, Missouri; 37 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, a daughter, two sisters, a brother, and a granddaughter.

The Rosary was recited at Rademacher's Funeral Home on Friday evening. Pallbearers were six grandsons including Leonard Baxa, Donald Smejkal, Henry Novak, James Novak, Jr., Francis Valenta, and Donald Valenta.

Burial was in the Crete Catholic Cemetery.
