On Friday, April 13th, James Brennan was enjoying his usual health, retiring in the evening with his brother, Tom. During the night he passed away, life being extinct when his brother awoke Saturday morning, April 14, 1923.
James Brennan was born in Darnik Gray County, Canada, coming to this vicinity 45 years ago. He was married to Mary A. Muldoon in 1886, the wife living but a few years after marriage. He was 69 years of age at the time of his death.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Tom and William, and 2 sister-in-laws, Mrs. Ed Brennan of Elm Creek and Mrs. R. Williams of Kearney.
Requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. D.T. Sullivan last Monday morning at 10:30 in the church of the Immaculate Conception, of Elm Creek, Nebraska. The sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev. John J. Kavanaugh. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery, the final blessing at the grave being conducted by the Revs. Father Kavanaugh and Father Sullivan.
