Mrs. Patience Baker Dead.
Mother of Mrs. Sam Denton and Mrs. Ed Flangan, Died Yesterday.
Mrs. Patience Baker, aged 75 years, passed away yesterday morning at 10:40 o'clock, at her home, 1100 North Eighth street, after an illness of six weeks. Mrs. Baker has made Independence her home for the past six years, coming here from Cherryvale. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist church, but has been unable to take an active part in church work. She has a wide acquaintance here and was loved by all with whom she came in contact.
She leaves to mourn her death, two daughters, Mrs. Sam Benton of this city and Mrs. Ed. Flanagan of Wayside; one son, L.S. Baker, of Oklahoma City, Okla; two grandchildren, Mrs. Ernest Freels and Terry Cook, both of this city, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the family home, 1100 North Eighth street, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Burial will be made in Mount Hope cemetery.

Our pioneer neighbor, Mrs. Patience Baker, died at her home in Independence last Monday, after a short illness. She was the last one of the Shoopmans family, a sister of the late George W. Shoopman, who died in May last year, and Nicholas Shoopman, who died last month, at the old home in Illinois. She is survived by one son, Ledrew, two daughters, Mrs. Cora Cook of Independence and Mrs. Nellie Flanigan of Wayside, and one niece, Miss Louilla Shoopman of Cherryvale. Burial will be made in Mount Hope cemetery.
