Abraham Barlow, one of Sonora's oldest citizens and a California pioneer of 1849, died at the family home in Stewart street early Wednesday morning.
Mr. Barlow was a native of Bavaria, where he was born in 1827. At the age of 22 years he came to this country, reaching California in 1849. The following year he came to Sonora, and during all the intervening years up until the time of his death this city had been his home. For years he engaged in the clothing business, being associated with S. Beamish (Solomon Benas). Subsequently he conducted a restaurant. He lived a quiet, placid life and was ever esteemed as a good citizen and a good man.
Beside his widow, four children are left to mourn. The children are Albert, of San Francisco, Alfred and Isadore, who are in Arizona, and Miss Rene Barlow of this city. They all have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
The funeral was conducted by Tuolumne Lodge No. 8, F & AM, in which he held membership for many years, this Firday afternoon, interment being in the Hebrew cemetery.
