"Ralph B. Claypool, 89, of Williamsport, a former Monticello resident, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital, Williamsport.

He was born in Alvin, Ill., on Aug. 6, 1912, to Andrew and Maggie Mae Hanley Claypool. He married Esther Mae Lucas in Williamsport on April 22, 1931. She died on Aug. 24, 1999.

He attended school in the Alvin (Ill.) School System.

He was a farm laborer and a bulk gas truck driver for Farm Bureau for many years. He retired after managing a service station in Monticello for 10 years. After retirement, he worked for Dean Johnson at Johnson Tee Vee and Jack Cole at J&B Beverage.

He was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church.

He was a member of the Monticello Moose Lodge and past member of the Eagles Lodge. He loved dancing and playing cards.

Survivors include sons, William B. (Mary Etta) Claypool of Williamsport, Tom (Kathy) Claypool of Monticello, Gary L. (Leslie) Claypool and Ralph A. (Vicky) Claypool, both of Lafayette, and James F. (Nonnie) Claypool of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Janice A. Hanson of Bremen; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Charles, and 13 brothers and sisters are deceased.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. EST today at Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating.

Burial will be at West Lebanon Cemetery.
