——————
Samuel M. Allen was born in Scott county, Missouri, February 3, 1854. He died at Geary, Oklahoma December 4, 1916; age 62 years, 10 months and 4 days.

At the age of 18 he moved to Howell county, Missouri, where in 1879 he was married to Mary A. Galloway. To this union four children, all boys were born; all of whom are living and were present at the funeral. They are Oscar J.
Allen, El Paso, Tex., William S. Allen, El Paso, Tex., Fletcher M. Allen, Houston, Tex., Roy Allen, Geary, Okla.

From the time of his attainment to the age of manhood to the time of his removal from the state, he was prominent in political and religious affairs. He was a member of the Baptist church for more than a third of a century and always fulfilled his obligations as a Christian gentleman.

In 1899 he left Missouri with his family and moved to Geary, Oklahoma where he has since resided. During the 17 years residence of Mr. Allen in this city he has always been closely identified with the upbuilding and betterment of the community and the country, and too much cannot be said of the man. Suffice that
he has earned and retained the admiration and respect of an entire community and that his death is universally mourned by all who knew him.
