Adgie Tipton Sr., 93, of Oxford died Sunday, April 13, 1997.
He lived in the Oxford area since 1946, where he was a farmer for 30 years.
He is survived by seven sons, James, Lester Buddy and Donald Tipton, all of Johnson City, Tenn., Frank L. Sr. and Jesse R. Tipton, both of Oxford, Vance L. Tipton of Rising Sun, Md., and Adgie Tipton Jr. of Newark, Del; six daughters, Bessie McAllister and Marie Hughes, both of Johnson City, Tenn., Thelma J. Reardon of Elkton, Md., Shirley Mae Quillin of Oxford, Mary Etta Woods of Bear, Del., and Elizabeth G. Strohl of Middletown, Del.; three brothers, Horace and Doss Tipton, both of Burnsville, N.C., and Jack Tipton of Salsbury, N.C.; two sisters, Foy Epley of Forrest, N.C. and Jane Case of North Carolina; 34 grand-chidren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Tipton, and one daughter, Lisa Dawn Tipton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the New London Baptist Church, Kelton Road ;in Kelton.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the Johnston-Ruffenach Funeral Home, 224 Penn Aven. in Oxford.
Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
