Died, on Sunday, August 30, 1897, at her home in Lyon township, about nine miles west of this city, Mrs. Lizzie Lovejoy, colored, aged forty-three years and two months. Deceased was one of the most timable and highly respected colored ladies in Cherokee county and had a large circle of warm friends. She was the wife of T. J. Lovejoy, a hard working farmer, and besides her husband, left a large family of children to mourn her death. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 31, and the remains interred in the Baxter cemetery.
