"Obituary - Weldon A Davis - Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Methodist church at Spartansburg in memory of Weldon A Davis, a life-long resident of Sparta township who passed away Friday morning at the home of his son, Harvey A Davis at Jamestown [Pa]. The deceased was [a] son of Harvey and Cordelia Gray Davis [and] was born of Oct 30, 1855, making him 84 years old. He was united in marriage to Alice Ainsworth who passed away about twelve years ago. To this union was born one son, Harvey A Davis. There was an adopted son, Arthur L Davis. Rev Waugaman, assisted by Rev Avery, both of Spartansburg, had charge of the services taking for a text 'What must I do to be saved,' requested by the deceased. The Misses Lucy and Margaret Morris sang 'Face to Face' and 'The Eastern Gate.' Assisting as bearers were three grandsons, Russell, Ralph and Charles Davis, and three nephews, Clarence and Dorus Ainsworth and Lloyd Davis, and burial was in the family lot in the Rose Hill cemetery at Spartansburg. The deceased was a true Christian and his life was filled with kind and loving deeds which will live in the hearts of both young and old. He attended the Enterprise Sunday school each Sunday where he taught a class of young people and his teaching will always live in their hearts. He leaves two sons and eight grandchildren beside many other relatives and friends.
