Hugh Britt Jr., 57, of the 900 block of Page Court, passed away June 8, 2008, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1950, to the late Lina Sue and James Hugh Britt in Southampton County, Virginia. He was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth and a veteran of the U.S. Army. "Britt," as he was known was a member of First Baptist Church, Severn, N.C. He worked as a longshoreman with ILA No. 1248. He leaves to cherish his memory his lifelong companion, Betty Moss; one daughter, Belinda Thomas; two sons, Virgil L. Moore (Rashida) and Jeremy M. Wilkins (Lakeah); one sister, Lillie Mae Parker; one brother, William Britt; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. The Rev. Marlon Hall will officiate. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 912 Page Court one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel.
