He was a lifelong resident of Colorado. Floyd is survived by his loving daughter, Darlia Simmons, who was at his side, daughter Rachelle Johnson, and one son, Bryan Simmons.
Floyd is also survived by grandchildren Don (Tracy) McAllister, Tera (TJ) Johnson, Jeremy (Jenny) McAllister, Chantel Catalona and Nicole Catalona, and Rachelle's children, Tina and Randy.
Floyd is also survived by great grandchildren Sabrina, Trisha, Alicia, Jacob, Dalton, Ashley, very close friend Glady Hix, and his three dogs Tippy, Tuffy, and Tidbit.
Floyd was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Zella, his sisters Maude and Delores, and a grandson, Jason. He has numerous nieces and nephews.
Floyd was a life member of the VFW Post 4051 and also belonged to the Eagles and Elks. Floyd served in the Army for two years. He retired from the Deaf & Blind School after 30 years. Floyd put up a valiant struggle to the end-he wanted to live forever.
One of his favorite things to do was to go camping with his family at Keith's place. Dad (poopah, grouchy grampaw- this is for you grandkids), we loved you so much. We are sad for ourselves at your passing, but oh so happy that you are no longer suffering anymore. I love you Daddy!
A visitation was scheduled from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Swan-Law Funeral Director's. Services was held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., Swan-Law Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO.
