Here From California

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Alexander of Taft, Calif., are in Marietta and Washington County and are visiting at the home of Mr. Alexander's father, James Alexander, of Moss Run. Glen Alexander is engaged with his brother, Ford Alexander, in the oil business in California and other points in the West, the Alexander brothers having distinguished themselves nationally in their method of extinguishing large oil field fires by means of dynamite explosions. This is the first visit Glen Alexander has made to his home county in 12 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander do considerable flying in airplanes in the West, all of the long distance travel being done in their airplanes that are part of the Ford Alexander equipment. Mrs. Alexander usually accompanies her husband in the air.

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander plan to return to their California home next week. They will be among those present at the Moss Run home-coming picnic that will be held on the Alexander home premises and that of the Moss Run Congregational Church next Saturday.

An interesting thing is that the James Alexander home stands on the foundation of the old Katie Fay Ewing home where was established the nucleus of the Washington County Children's Home, the first children's home in the world supported by direct taxation.
