David R. Bashore, 87, a retired Potlatch Corp. sawmill maintenance man, died Monday morning at Tri-State Convalescent Center of infirmities of age.

He had lived with a daughter at 2370 Appleside Blvd., Clarkston for four years before entering the nursing home nine months ago. He had also resided with a son at 724 12th St. Clarkston for the previous 25 years.

He was born Sept. 23, 1889, in Encampment, Wyo., and grew up there. He worked for a machinery firm before coming to Lewiston in 1926.

He was married to Mary Parr on Sept. 10, 1910, in Saratoga, Wyo. She died in February of 1940. A son Leonard and a stepson, George, also preceded him in death.

He was employed by the Potlatch Corp. in Lewiston for 31 years before retiring in 1958. He later was active in gardening and steelhead fishing. He was a communicant of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Clarkston.

Survivors include a sister, Naomi Peebles of Sunnyside, Wash.; three daughters, Mildred Olson of Clarkston; Rae Montgomery of Seattle; and Mamie Sulman of Portland; two sons, Lawrence and David, both of Clarkston; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
