Knight of Thornbury, Gloucestershire, of Hovingham, Yorkshire. Constable and Porter of Berkeley Castle.

Younger son of Sir Maurice Berkeley and Isabel Meade, grandson of Sir James Berkeley and Isabel de Mowbray, Philip Meade and his wife, Isabel.

Sir Thomas married Eleanor Constable, daughter of Sir Marmaduke Constable and Joyce Stafford, widow of John Ingleby of Yorkshire. They were married in 1505 and had two sons and two daughters; Thomas, Maurice, Muriel, wife of Sir Robert Throckmorton and Joan, wife of Nicholas Poyntz.

Sir Thomas was knighted by the Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey 09 Sept 1513 on the field at the Battle of Flodden, summoned to Parliament from 1529 and ranked in the order of his ancestors as the third Baron Berkeley even though he did not have actual possession of the Berkeley estates.

Sir Thomas married a second time, to Cecily Arnold, daughter and co-heiress to Sir Arnold of Gloucestershire, widow of Richard Rowdon, Sheriff of Gloucestershire.
