On April 26, 1929, in Cutler, Carroll County, Indiana the son of the late Guy Quentin Aiken and Cora Marie Cunningham Aiken. He graduated from Cutler High School in 1947.
He married Ferne Conner Smart on June 7, 1963, and she died June 25, 1987. He married E. Joan Manges Thompson on July 9, 1988, in Lafayette. She survives.
Mr. Aiken worked in the inspection department at Alcoa from 1953 until 1983.
He was a member of Brady Lane Church of Christ, Mount Zion Lodge 211, Alcoa Retirees and 25-year clubs. He was a 50-year member of Flora Masonic Lodge 605 and served as master of Wildcat Masonic Lodge 311 in 1960. He was a volunteer Red Coat at Home Hospital from 1984 until 2004 and delivered for Meals on Wheels.
He was a fan of NASCAR and driver Tony Stewart.
Surviving with his wife are stepchildren, Darlene Christian (husband: Mark) of West Point and Darrell Thompon (wife: Bonnie) of Jackson, Tenn.; and brothers, Clayton Hutson of Cutler and Gerald "Jerry" Aiken of Indialantic, Fla.
Surviving are stepgranchildren, James E. Beeler (wife: Teresa), Joshua L. Beeler (wife: Becky), Michael T. Thompson (wife: Amanda), Tami Zeigler and Ariel Zeigler; stepgreat-grandchildren, Gabriel Alexander Beeler, Lillian Mae Zeigler and Andrew Oliver. A sister, Betty Lay, died July 19, 2000.
