Longtime Lamard Resident Passed Away Wednesday at
Nursing Home
Mrs. Ada Porter, 74, longtime resident of the Geff vicinity, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Baldwin nursing home in Grayville, where she had been a patient 15 days.
Some weeks ago Mrs. Porter had been hospitalized here. She had been in poor health for the past few years.
Rites Saturday
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Dixon & Johnson Chapel, with Bro. Don Couch officiating. Interment will be in Bestow cemetery at Geff. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
Ada, daughter of Julius and Grace McDannel Brown, was born at Geff March 23rd, 1892.
On June 7th, 1911, she was married to Carl Porter, with two children born to their union. Her husband died seven years ago and her two children also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Porter was a member of the Geff Christian church.
The Survivors
Surviving are two brothers, Wayne Brown, of Geff; and Melvin Brown, of Indianapolis, Ind; two sisters, Mrs. Clo Snow, of Cisne; and Mrs. Flo Powers, of Palmyra, Ill; and a grandson, Jerry Berg, in army service at Ft. Knox, Ky.
