On 15 October 1918, he died in France during WWI, at Base Hospital #20, Chatel Guyon from the influenza pandemic. He was buried in Auvergne, close to Chatel Guyon. In 1921, he was disinterred, returned to the USA and reburied in Forrest Home Cemetery, 4 June 1921, Forest Park, IL.
