A 51 year resident of Las Vegas, he was a retired laborer and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alma Conway Allen, and his daughter Juanita M Allen Clay, grandson Bobby Lee Allen and great granddaughter Rochelle Allen
He is survived by his companion, Mary Randolph, two daughters, Herkey L. Scott and Barbara Allen, three sons, John Allen Jr., Willie Allen Sr., and Robert Allen, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lillie B. Turner and Annie Lee Watson, both of Tallulah, LA; four brothers, Jesse Allen of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Arthur Banks, Sylvester Banks and Charlie Banks, Sr., all of Las Vegas; 33 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Saturday September 14, 1996 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Post Script - John's son, John Allen, Jr., was buried next to him in August of 1998
