Dau of Clement P Banks, Sr. (1799-1853) & Catherine Lea Vanhook (c1804-1875).

She married 1st in Adair Co KY Richard Brown (1817 KY-1857 IL), 12 Jun 1844. He was said to have been murdered. She married 2nd James "Bud" Hill on 20 Mar 1860 in Hire, McDonough, IL.

Child with James Hill/Pettit not listed at findagrave.com, Elizabeth Hill (1862-)death date/place & marital status unknown

Her daughter Emmaline's marriage record gives her father's name as James Pettit. She was born 9 months 11 days after her mother's marriage to James Hill, so we have to conclude that Hill/Pettit are the same person using different surnames for unknown reasons.

The family was in the 1860 Blandinville, McDonough, IL census as "Hill", and in the 1870 Marmaton, Bourbon, KS census as "Pettit".

James Hill/Pettit not found in the 1880 census, so presumably they were divorced or he died between 1870-1880.

Except for the 1870 "Pettit" census, Elizabeth always went by the surname "Hill" after 1860.
