"Newcomb"

The body of Claton Artis is expected to arrive in Jellico November 2. Pvt. Artis died in a Japanese prison camp in the Philippine Islands in 1942. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Artis Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church on Sunday.

"Newcomb"

Pvt. Claton Artis' funeral was at Rodeheaver Memorial M.E. Church Sunday evening at 2:00. He died in a prison camp in the Philippine Islands October 3rd, 1942. He was in the 16th Bomber Squadron Air Corps, and was born June 5, 1922. He left to mourn his loss his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Artis, Jr.; one twin brother, John Artis, who is in the Navy and lives in Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas O. Littlefield, Canton, Ohio, Mrs. J.M. Wahl, Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. Walbert Duvall, Cincinnati, Ohio; and a number of relatives and friends. Many attended the funeral. Rev. Ledford officiated. The following people from Oak Ridge attended: Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Artis, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Ridenour and sons, G.W. Jr. and Roger, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Ridenour and Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Ridenour.
