"The LaFayette Sun" - July 31, 1907:

Death Claims Mrs. Barnes.

Mrs. Emmie Barnes died last Sunday afternoon at 6 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. K. C. Moorman. She has been in feeble health for some time and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Barnes would have been seventy-nine years old next October, and has lived a long and useful life. She leaves ten children: Mrs. K. C. Moorman, of this place; Mrs. G. W. Hammond, of Franklin, Ga.; Mrs. Gillam, of Roanoke; Mrs. Dock Adams, of Fredonia; Mrs. Nannie Hambrick, Villa Ricca, Ga.; J. W. Barnes, of Prattville; Bob and Gus Barnes, of Texas; Andrew Barnes, of Beulah; Mrs. Fannie Walton, of near LaFayette. The remains were interred at Emory Chapel Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. E. M. Glenn conducting the service.
