Composer and physicist. He was one of the music pioneers of the 20-th century and became famous above all by soundtracks. Best known for his sound-productions in in Alfred Hitchcocks's "the birds" in 1961: The fear-exciting bird's shouts originated not in Hollywood, but in a backyard in Berlin-Charlottenburg where he had is own studio since 1958. Also in Edgar Wallace movies "The Yellow Snake (1962)" and "The Strangler of Blackmoor Castle (1963)" sounded his - for this series rather unusual - soundtrack. Up to his death he worked as a composer in Berlin.
