Carlos was the eldest of eight children. In 1964 Carlos from Edward Park Vocational High School and shortly afterwards enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 1964, at a Philadelphia Recruiting Office.
Carlos served at a couple of places before going to Vietnam June 1966. He was wounded during Operation Sutter while fighting against Viet Cong forces in December 1966, as a result of a hostile landmine. After recovering from his wound Carlos was reassigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The battalion was participating in Operation Union when Delta Company was engaged by battalion of hostile forces, at approximately 1750H in the Nui Nong Nam Hills and 5 kilometers northeast of Que Son. Most of the Marines had been wounded and were forced to return to the company CP, as darkness fell after a day long of combat in a valley. Carlos and another Marine were presumed to be dead and the bodies were not recovered 12 May 1967. The following morning Carlos and another were not found during an intensive search and both Marines were declared missing in action.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his step-father and mother; Major Allen and Ethel Mae Turner and his siblings; Major, Elise, Deborah, Penny, Joyce, Michael and Willard all of Philadelphia, PA.
Some remains were repatriated in March 1991, but not belonged to Carlos
Presumptive Finding of Death was approved by the Secretary of the Navy on July 8, 1976.
As of April 21, 2003, Carlos' remains have not been identified.
