Mrs. C. E. Morril passed away at her home Sunday afternoon following an illness of "flu." She had been in poor health for several months, then contracted influenza. Relatives were called early Sunday morning as her condition had become worse.
The obituary follows:
Alma Helen Batchelder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Batchelder, was born in Candia, New Hampshire, June 6, 1872 and departed this life February 5, 1933 at Lamont, Oklahoma, at the age of sixty years, seven months and eleven days.
In 1881 the family moved to Miami county, Kansas. After a short stay the moved to Sumner county, Kansas.
On March 7, 1894 she was united in marriage to Charles E. Morril and lived on their farm near Lamont, Oklahoma until seven years ago when they moved to Lamont.
The family circle includes three daughters: Florence Gilbert, Mrs. Grace Kistler and Mrs. Leona Gilbert; and two sons, Albert and Glen. One son, Clarence, preceded her in death January 21, 1917.
Besides her husband and immediate members of the family she leaves to mourn her going, four sisters: Mrs. Bertha Adams, Arrow Grande, California, Mrs. Alice Tilson, Redondo Beach, Caliornia, Mrs. Clara Hughes, Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Mary Major, Jefferson, Oklahoma; two brothers: George H. Batchelder, Hunnewell, Kansas and Lyn Batchelder, Wellington, Kansas, and a large circle of friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Morril was a member of the Christian Church having united with the church at Lamont in February 1910. Her last words were: "I am going to see mother, daddy, and Clarence."
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church by W. R. Elswick, the pastor, and assisted by Rev. A. S. Kattner, pastor of the Methodist Church. The remains were laid to rest in the New Home cemetery.
