REV. ALEXANDER BEERS SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS
The Rev. Alexander Beers, for many years one of the best known ministers of the Free Methodist church, in the west and for the many 24 years a member of the general executive board, passed away in Portland on Monday, September 12, after an illness of several months. At his bedside at the time of his death were his wife, his sister, Mrs. Henry Metzger of Gresham and other relatives. He was born in Davis county, Iowa, 59 years ago and came to Oregon with his parents when a boy of 16 and settled at Gresham. Besides his widow he is survived by five sisters and four brothers all of them former residents of this place. The sisters are Mrs. Henry Metzger, Gresham; Mrs. Henry Pfaff, Portland; Mrs. Dan Metzger, Lodi, California; Mrs. John Weatherly, Newberg and Mrs. Walker Proctor, Sandy. The brothers are Wm. Beers, Gresham; Frank Beers, Cottrell; George and Zeke Beers, Sandy. Funeral services will beheld in Gresham at the Methodist church, on Thursday afternoon, September 15, at 2:30. Interment will be in the Gresham cemetery beside his parents.
