Died at the family home just west of town at 8 o'clock Sunday morning, February 17, 1907, Mrs. Catherine Soper, wife of the late Ira Soper, after a lingering illness incident to her age. She had been in poor health for several months. The funeral was at 2 o'clock Monday from the house and burial was in Hardy Cemetery beside the remains of her husband. Catherine Hockins was born January 20, 1833 in Hollingsworth, England. She was united in marriage to Ira Soper in Bowmansville, Canada, January 12, 1858. They moved to Iowa in 1861 residing there 14 years, coming to Nebraska in 1875. Of this union was born three sons and two daughters. One daughter died on February 17, 1899, and the husband going before her on November 15, 1906. She was a true devoted mother to her family never sparing herself to add to their comfort. -- Hardy (Hardy Herald)
