MRS. LEONARD TO ASSUME NEW POSITION AT BHS
When school opens September 6, 1961 at Bastrop High School, the students will find a new person in the Guidance Counselor's chair - new only in the position but not a newcomer - Mrs. Carrie Leonard. Mrs. Leonard replaces O. L. Harper, who is now assistant superintendent in charge of guidance. Mrs. Leonard secured her B. A. from Louisiana State University and the M. A. from Mississippi College. She taught mathematics in grammar and high school in Newellton before moving to Bastorp. Her first position here was a a teach of math in Central Junior High and she later transferred to Bastrop High as a math teacher.
A member of Delta Kappa Gamma, she is active in youth work in First Methodist Church where she carries the title of Superintendent of Youth Division. She is married to Dr. Thomas William "Doc" Leonard, local veterinarian.
