Born near Saragozza in Spain, he completed his studies in theology and law at the Spanish College at the University of Bologna. Upon his return to Spain, he became a member of the regular canons of the cathedral of Saragozza, one of the many cathedral chapters of regular canons throughout Europe. Later King Ferdinand entrusted him with the position of provincial inquisitor for the Kingdom of Aragon. He conducted his work according the most progressive legal procedures of his time. In this capacity, he strove to eradicate both superstitious practices and heresies. For accepting this difficult task, he was rewarded with his martyrdom in 1485 for the hatred of the Faith while offering Matins. His canonization was celebrated on June 29 1867.
