Elder Samuel McMillan of High Point, NC was born in Cocke County, Tenn, April 18, 1870 and died in Cleveland County, NC near Philadelphia Church where he had gone to fill his regular appointment on April 11, 1930, at the age of 59 years 11 months and 24 days. He preached his last discourse April 6, 1930, using for his text Genesis 50:20. His membership was with the Primitive Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC and he served the Abbott's Creek Association as Moderator for many years. He served several Churches in the bounds of the Abbotts Creek Association, was an able gift, greatly beloved by his brethren. He was married to Sarah E. Caton on Dec 25, 1887.

He was the son of Elias Anderson "Ance" McMillan & Phoebe Elender Lindsey from Cocke County, Tennessee.

Sam & Sarah moved to the North Carolina area February 1913 according to a notation in the Family history section of the bible of their oldest son Elder Walter Conrad McMillon.

He and his wife had 15 children together. They were in order of birth: Walter "Conard", Stephen B., Levonia, Phoebe, Margret "Matilda", Laura, Cora (or Chora per a family bible), Louthenia, Hester, Belvia, Mary Elizabeth, James, David Columbus "Wade" E., William Thomas "Tom" McMillan and Minnie.

Five of their children are buried at the same cemetery, the Mechanicsville Primitive Baptist Church in High Point, NC.
