William was the son of Ludwig and Johanna Ahrens Ahlswede, and the husband of Martha Grunwaldt.

William Ahlswede Dies
Former Brussels Man Passes at His Son's Home in Casco Town
Funeral services for William Ahlswede, who died November 11 were held from the home of his son, John Ahlswede, town of Casco, Monday at 1 pm, and from the Community Methodist Church, Algoma, at 2 pm. The funeral services were conductd by the Rev. Theodore Staiger, pastor of the German Methodist congregation, Kewaunee, and interment was made at the Evergreens.
Mr. Ahlswede was winin a few day of his sixty-fifth birthday at the time of his death which was caused by Pernicious Anemia. He was taken ill about six months ago and spwnt three months at a Manitowoc hospital. He was confined to his bed during the last three months of his life which were spent at the home of his son, John.
William Ahlswede was born on a farm, November 21, 1857, and grew to manhood in Kossuth town, Manitowoc county. When he was a young man, 19 years of age, he took up a tract of land at Brussels, and he remained there 32 years. He retired as a farmer in 1909, and his wife died the following year. Since then he has spent his time with relatives. Mr. Ahlswede was a leading member of the Kohlberg Baptist Church.
Martha Grunwald and William Ahlswede were married in 1878. Three childten were born to them, and all of them survived their parents. They ar Mrs. Alvina Schmidtmann, Benton Harbor, Mich., August Ahlswede, Manitowoc, and John Ahlswede, town of Casco. In addition to his children, Mr. Ahlswede is survived by eleven grandchildren and by three brothers.
