Clestine T. Carter, 86 of Highland City, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at her daughter's home due to respiratory failure.
She was born January 24, 1922 in Appling County, GA to Isham Hinton and Fannie Lou (Lightsey) Tyre. Clestine was employed in the citrus industry for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for Triangle Grove Service. She previously attended Polk Vocational School, was a charter member of First Community Church of Highland City and was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Highland City Lodge.
Clestine was united in marriage on December 24, 1946 to Leslie Bowen who preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by her two daughters, Vernica Herndon-Reynolds of Bartow and Vonda Sue Carlton of Myakka City; a brother, Emory Tyre of Candler, FL; granddaughters, Susan Hall of Bartow, Rene Reynolds of Katy, TX and Abby Murphy of Myakka City and two great grandchildren, J.J. Hall and Sarah Hall both of Bartow.
Friends will be received from 3-5 pm Sunday at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, Lakeland. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday at Oak Hill Burial Park.
