" Aged resident succumbs to to brief illness"
William Whittingham son of Charles Whittingham and Hannah Smith Whittingham was born in New Castle England June 25, 1848. He came to America with his parents in 1867 settling in the Township of Springvale Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Mrs May Bagley in 1872 who passed away in 1909. He was married to Mrs Eliza Kohler in 1915. In 1886 Mr. Whittingham Joined the Pardee Lodge No. 226 of Odd Fellows and was a continuous member for 48 years. He passed away Sunday morning at his home on Lake St. after a brief illness. Besides his wife he is survived by his four brothers. Tom of Fox Lake, Frank of Pardeeville, John of Ladysmith, and Byron of Arpin. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Richard, Charles, George, Jim, and Sarah. A host of friends and relatives mourn his death.
Rev Huppert preached the sermon and the Odd Fellows conducted the funeral services at the Lintner Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Tuesday. Interment was made in the Marcellon Cemetery. The pallbearers were W. H. Mathewson, Walt Edwards, Charles Atkinson, O. Scott, Loren Moser, and George Cuff. Vocal selections were rendered by Edna Smith of Randolph solo, Mrs. Lintner accompanying a duet by Mrs Alma Huppert and Mrs Maxwell Hepler, with Mrs Inez Brandt accompanying.
Flower girls were, Mrs Charles Atkinson, Mrs. A.L. Wood, Frances Lovell, Mrs Orrie Scott, Mrs. Steve Maynard and Mrs Bates.
Those who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Byron Whittingham of Arpin, Mr and Mrs. Tom Whittingham of Fox Lake, Mr and Mrs Chester Whittingham of Beaver Dam, Mrs Geo. Whittingham of Columbus, Mrs John Barnett of Doylestown, Melvin Griffin and Mrs. Stow of Briggsville, Mr and Mrs. S.R. Smith of Randolph, Mrs Elizabeth Smith of Cambria, Andrew Slinger of Portage, Temp Slinger of Rio and Mr and Mrs Pail Sommers of Wisconsin Dells.
