KILLED BY LIGHTENING
Asper Bracken, the 17 year old son of our bishop, was killed by lightening last Monday forenoon at about 11 o'clock.
He had been to drive the horses to pasture and was crossing Weber's meadow with his horse on a gallop returning home. He was struck on the right temple and the marks showed that the lightening had followed down his body, dividing at the legs and thence to the steel rings of the saddle cinch, and then on down the front legs of the horse to the ground, killing both rider and horse.
The funeral was held Wednesday. A very large number of sympathizing friends were there, conspicuous among whom were the large number of young men and young women who were members of his Sunday School class. Six of the young men bore the casket, which was beautiful.
The singing was good and very appropriate. the speakers were Henry Kennington, Louis Jenkins, Nels Nelson, Eugen Weber and Ola Hokanson. All the speakers had the best of words for the departed, some of whom had known him for 15 years.
A cortege of the thirty carriages followed the remains to the cemetery.
We are all bereaved, and we all sympathize very sincerely with the immediate family.
