Pardeeville Times January 12, 1939
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TODAY FOR FRANK WHITTINGHAM WAS A PROMINENT BUSSINESS MAN HERE FOR 29 YEARS.
Mr. Frank Whittingham prominent retired Pardeeville bussiness man died at his home Tuesday morning.Mr Whittingham conducted a grocery bussiness here for 29 years. The funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. today at the Lintner Funeral Home with the Rev. Huppert officiating. Burial was at the Marcellon Cemetery.
All bussiness places closed from 2 to 3 in respect of Mr. Whittingham.Frank Whittingham son of Charles Whittingham and Hannah Smith Whittingham was born at Hanley Staffordshire England on September 25, 1866. In early infancy he with his parents emigrated to the United States of America and settled upon a farm in the township of Springvale, Columbia Co.
On June 11 the deceased was united in marriage to Susie Julia Jarvis. To this union was born one son Chester Francis at present a resident of Beaver Dam.
Mr. Whittingham was stricken with a serious illness on November 15, 1938. For a number of weeks he hoverered at the brink of death, even after the lapse of several weeks with an indication of improved physical condition the prospect for a full recovery to normal health remained doubtful. Even in his own mind he thought his illness to be the beginning of the end of his temporal sojourn. The best of all however he placed his outcome of his illness in the care of him, whose gracious sympathy and benevolent concern in his behalf is assured into all that will accept it and abide in it. " Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy ladened, and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28.
That the deceased accepted the lord's gracious invitation and abided in his trustworth merits to the end of his temporal life. I have a full and ample reason to believe and that when the final summons came to him he was ready to meet his Master and Redeemer. On January 10, at the age of 72 years three months and 15 days.
The deceased leaves to mourn his departure, his sorely grieved wife and Son Chester Francis of Beaver Dam and a grandson, three brothers Thomas of Fox Lake, John of Nielsville and Byron of Cooper. and a large cirle of intimate friends. signed: J. L. Huppert
