Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Chaplain Donnie Miller officiating. Burial will follow in City Cemetery - Cedar Hill section, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Wilkinson, Donald Grimes, Kevin Stagner, Raymond Montelongo, Eric Montelongo, and Terry Sims. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary was born December 24, 1925 to Donaciana [Martinez} and Theodoro Sanchez in San Angelo, Texas. She married Adolph Acosta on June 8, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas. They moved to Abilene 54 years ago. Mary and her husband owned and operated Acosta Sav-Sum Grocery. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Donaciana and Theodoro Sanchez and her husband, Adolfo G. Acosta, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Adolph Acosta, Jr., Roy A. Acosta, and Gilbert Acosta; two daughters, Edna Calderon and Jackie Drury; five brothers, Lupe Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, David Sanchez, Jerry Sanchez, and Pete Sanchez; five sisters, Francis Flores, Gabby Salinas, Elizabeth Campos, Janie Fernandez, and Lydia Garcia; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
