On August 19, 1892, a Double Wedding, Jesse Ray Bagwell married Etta Johnson, and Jesse's sister, Georgie Ann (Anna Georgie) married Matthew George Moutray. Moutray and Etta Johnson were cousins. They married in Thackerville, Indian Territory.

Jesse along with his father owned a store in Thackerville, Indian Territory around 1892, from a stationary I found in the Texas State Archives, stating the name was, Bagwell & Son, Thackerville, I.T. that Jesse used.

Jesse is a Great Grandson of Elizabeth Adair, 1/2 Cherokee Indian, m. To Emanuel York, lived in Pickens Co., AL as early as 1816, & Tuscaloosa Co., AL.
