Married 15 Jan 1850 to Minerva Noah who died in Orting County, Oregon ( 6 Mar 1896) where Orin & Minerva lived for few years. In 1838 his father and mother (Luther and Chloe Cole) moved to Daviess County, MO.

He served in the Civil War. He lived in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.

He was converted and baptized into the Christian Church at Port Richmond, Iowa in 1862.

In the spring of 1860 Orin went to Pike's peak, Colorado time of gold craze and was gone 7 months. In Oct of 1861 he sold their home in Missouri and moved to Iowa, near Cuba, Monroe county; stayed there 4 months. In the later part of February they moved to Wapello county, 1 mile from Ottumwa on this side of the Des Moines River and rented a place there for 2 years. In Sept 1863, they moved back to Gallatin, Daviess, Mo and stayed there one year. In Sept 0f 1864 they moved back to Wapello co., Iowa bought a house and lot on the Des Moines river in Port Richmond just across the river from Ottumwa. The river washed away part of the lot. They had to move the house and stayed there 3 years. In Sept. 1867 , They sold out and moved to Wirtonia, Cherokee co., Kansas. A town that was just started, 1 store and post office 12 miles north of Baxter springs, between 2 little streams, called East and West Shawnee. They Lived there 4 1/2 years. In spring of 1875 went to Daviess co., Mo for 5 weeks, then went to Baxter Springs and took a train for San Francisco. they were there 8 days. Then they took a steam boat and arrived at Portland where they then took a train for McMinnville, Yamhill, Oregon. They stayed there 7 weeks. they went back to Portland and took a boat up the Columbia River to Rooster Rock, Multmomah co., Oregon. Stayed there 3 years. In April of 1878, they sold out and went to Moscow, Nez Perce co., Idaho and lived there 11 years. In May of 1889 they sold out and took a train for Orting Pierce co., Washington and there they remained until his wife died and he was sick and needed help. So he moved to Texas to be with his daughter.
