Mrs. Elizabeth S "Beth" Long 69, of New Berlin died at 3:20 a.m. Thursday (9/19/1985) at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 12, 1916, in New Berlin, Mrs. Long was the daughter of James Blain and Laura Pearl Money Smith. She married Virgil Long in 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Emmett and Ernest Smith, and one sister, Hazel Prince.
Mrs. Long retired from the Farm Supply, New Berlin, and several years ago was elected as collector for New Berlin Township. She served as sub-registrar for the Springfield Health Department and was a member of United Baptist Church, New Berlin.
Surviving are two sisters, Alice M. Brown of Mount Olive and Lynda Taulli of Hazelwood, Mo. ; one brother, James H. Smith of Hammond, Ind.; and one aunt.
Services at United Baptist Church, New Berlin, with the Rev. Greg Alvis officiating. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery.
